About 40 million of immigrants live in the US. It is estimated, that about 13% of the USA’s population are immigrants. But, who are they? Where do they come from? Where do they prefer to live?

•About 18 million immigrants have become neutral citizens.
•Around 11 million are permanent or temporal resident with legal permit.
•More than 12 million live in the country illegally. The stays in which they mostly live are: California (25%), Texas (16%), Florida and New York (6%) and Georgia (5%).
•According to studies, 29% come from Mexico, 25% from South and East Asia, 9% from the Caribbean, 8% from Central America, 7% from South America, 4% from the Middle East, and about 18% from other regions.
• They usually prefer to live in California (27%), New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Hawaii, and Texas.
Which are the most utilized mechanisms by immigrants to get in?
There are three types:
Permanent legal stay: immigrants who are sponsored by family members or patrons, refugees and solicitors of asylum, and the ones who win the “diversity” lottery annual Visa.
Temporary legal stay: most of them count with a tourist, work, or educational Visa. Others count with Visas for businesses, athletes, and artists. It is important to say that many immigrants, according to their motherland, don’t need a Visa.
Illegally: about 50% of illegal immigrants have entered the country by evading border controls. The other 50% entered the country legally, but their Visa expired, and they didn’t leave when they should have.
